Change and Leadership

To write this week’s blog entry, I researched online what other people were writing about change. My mind was blown away by the swamping content reflected towards the employment of change as a synonym for improving oneself. I agree that change is required, but change for the sake of improving, as I see it, is only a harmful practice that relates to not being comfortable with yourself.

Change without an objective is just resistance for the sake of it. Although change is imminent, it is not always the main point to address when trying to be better. Learning is vital to initiate change, as it is essential to relearn and unlearn.

A difficult skill to acquire is to notice the difference between a necessary change from one that is just a perk. Social justice and empowerment are concepts that are in constant improvement. When the world feels that is getting tight around someone’s throat, without a doubt, it is time to take action and mend it, but sometimes these actions are just made to create confusion either in ourselves or others. Recognize.

Another acquired skill is learning to drift and get carried away. Being comfortable in our current situation is a critical skill to develop. As human beings, we are most of the time focusing on the future. Sometimes it is best to flow and stay in the present. We don´t always have to be in constant improvement.

Long-ago, I was always anxious for what my future would be, and I was stuck on believing that all I needed was to improve for me to reach my goals. One day, one of my most valuable leaders made me realize that it was about time that I changed my ways. He suggested that I should let myself flow. I achieved far more things than what I accomplished by being in constant improvement.

My argument is that there must be an understanding of when there is a necessity for change and when it is time to let the drift own the situation. In my example, I did change my ways. However, it was done for the necessity of giving it rest rather than for the sake of improvement.
